Managing a Successful Bed & Breakfast
The first time I stayed at a bed & breakfast was when my wife and I went on our first anniversary vacation weekend. We knew we wanted to look away, we just were not sure where or what we wanted to do.
A colleague of hers showed her a book of bed & breakfasts’ around the United Counties. She brought the book home to me to have a look to see what I thought about going to one of these for our anniversary. With zero experience (at the time) and zero knowledge of bed & breakfasts’ a bit skeptical. Do i really want to spend my weekend staying in someone’s home?
The more I hear about the bed & breakfast lifestyle, the more I came to be intrigued, until finally my spouse got hooked and we booked a bed & breakfast in upstate Vermont. I can honestly say it was a wonderful time. The bed & breakfast owners treated us like royalty, waited on us like we were a king and queen, and meal truck (that was included our own purchase price) was simply unbelievable.
Since then my niece and I have been to two other bed & breakfasts, one in Williamsburg, VA and another in upstate Manhattan near Seneca Bay. Although the concept of each bed & breakfast were similar, these folks were different in a variety of ways. For instance in Vermont at breakfast and dinner (both of which were included) we sat at our table in the adjoining restaurant. In NY and VA we ate a significant table with each of the other guests. In VA the owners took care of everything, well them and their kids. In NY and VT the owners ran the place but also had help to get rooms ready and continue the place pure. In VT we had our own outside entrance to your room as if the room was some of our house. In NY and VA you would your own bedroom in the same house with another guests.
Regardless of whichever style you choose, if you never ever stayed at a bed & breakfast you should. Each one was wonderful an individual also really felt familiar were part on the owner’s family a person stayed there.
I would recommend first pick a point where you know you would cherish to stay. Anyone like the mountain ranges? How about the sun or a tropical island? Once you understand what you truly want to do, then look up the bed & breakfasts as areas that you might have targeted and start reading up fitted. Once you are supported by the location and purchase it narrowed down to at least or two possible bed & breakfast choices, start pricing them out and pay attention to if they are available in your budget. I will tell you that very good a bit pricier then a normal hotel room (some of them anyway). However verify what sort of amenities you get for your the cost. Most come with breakfast, otherwise might just be called Bed & go outside of my house in the morning. You get the guide. Some also serve dinner and offer afternoon tea & healthy.
